"A special place on a magical Island"
As a boy I spent many a summer holiday on the Isle of Wight, coming back at various points in my life, always wanting to return. In 2019 I spotted India Cottage for sale and tried to buy it, but was pipped at the post, although luckily for me the sale fell through and I bought it in early 2020.
Throughout 2020, we carefully restored and refurbished the cottage, aiming to keep the quirky charm of the 1850s, respecting its Grade II listing and location in Ventnor's conservation area. We wanted to make it an exemplary self-catering experience, reflecting the best of what we had seen and learned from the many places we had stayed over the years.
Launched in 2021, India Cottage has quickly gained consistent 5-star guest reviews and was awarded Airbnb ‘superhost’ status in just three months of operation. Since then Airbnb has regularly renewed our 'superhost' status, currently achieving an enviable 4.9 score. In 2024 we were awarded Airbnb "Guest Favourite" status and ranked in their "top 10% of homes" category. We also enjoy a 5* review status on Google. We have enjoyed hosting guests from all over the UK and further afield, and are so pleased our efforts have resulted in such positive feedback and glowing guest reviews (see below).
